Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Zanzibar by Frank Brangwyn was sold in the Orientalist Art auction at Bonhams in London in June last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 44,400.00 (€ 51,580.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Frank Brangwyn have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fowey Harbour, Cornwall in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 182,650.00 (€ 286,020.48).
