Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Nell Gwyn (1650–1687) by Simon Verelst was auctioned at Sothebys in London in June last year. It changed hands for a price of GBP 189,000.00 (€ 219,564.24) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Simon Verelst - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Roses, irises, poppies and other flowers in a glass vase on a ledge, which sold at auction in January 2001 for USD 523,000.00 (€ 561,882.25).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Nell Gwyn (1650–1687) von Simon Verelst kam im Juni letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 189.000,00 (€ 219.564,24) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Simon Verelst mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Roses, irises, poppies and other flowers in a glass vase on a ledge beobachtet, die im Januar 2001 für USD 523.000,00 (€ 561.882,25) versteigert wurde.
