In June 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work A rose, an anemone, and a sprig of rowan in a glass vase on a ledge; and Tulips and anemones in a glass vase on a ledge by Simon Verelst. The »bidding war« ended at USD 37,500.00 (€ 33,389.72), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simon Verelst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Roses, irises, poppies and other flowers in a glass vase on a ledge in January 2001 with an auction result of USD 523,000.00 (€ 561,882.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master Paintings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit A rose, an anemone, and a sprig of rowan in a glass vase on a ledge; and Tulips and anemones in a glass vase on a ledge von Simon Verelst zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 33.389,72) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Simon Verelst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Roses, irises, poppies and other flowers in a glass vase on a ledge im Januar 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 523.000,00 (€ 561.882,25).
