In October 2021 Bonhams held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait of a gentleman, said to be Anthony Horsmanden, bust-length, in a red coat by Simon Verelst. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,080.00 (€ 4,833.70), 36% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simon Verelst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Roses, irises, poppies and other flowers in a glass vase on a ledge in January 2001 with an auction result of USD 523,000.00 (€ 561,882.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 36 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Bonhams die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, said to be Anthony Horsmanden, bust-length, in a red coat von Simon Verelst zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.080,00 (€ 4.833,70) und damit 36% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Simon Verelst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Roses, irises, poppies and other flowers in a glass vase on a ledge im Januar 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 523.000,00 (€ 561.882,25).
