This work of art by Simon-Mathurin Lantara could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the OLD MASTER PICTURES auction, the work A wooded landscape with a shepherd watching over cattle, sheep, and a horse by a river changed hands for GBP 2,937.50 (€ 4,799.47) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Other works by Simon-Mathurin Lantara have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in April 2007 by the work Herders resting in a pastoral river landscape at USD 6,600.00 (€ 4,831.63).
