Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The beach at Scheveningen with fishermen by Simon de Vlieger was sold in the Old Masters: Property from a Private Collection auction at Christies in New York in October 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 275,000.00 (€ 246,526.22) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Simon de Vlieger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dutch frigates exchanging salutes in a calm, with yachts, a rowing boat, a sloop carrying personnel, and fishermen on the shore in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 1,553,250.00 (€ 1,782,586.75).

Die Arbeit The beach at Scheveningen with fishermen von Simon de Vlieger wurde im Oktober 2019 in der Auktion Old Masters: Property from a Private Collection bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 275.000,00 (€ 246.526,22) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Simon de Vlieger auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dutch frigates exchanging salutes in a calm, with yachts, a rowing boat, a sloop carrying personnel, and fishermen on the shore im Juli 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.553.250,00 (€ 1.782.586,75).
