Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sleeping Cat by Shibata Zeshin was auctioned at Bonhams in May this year. The price achieved of GBP 3,570.00 (€ 4,153.72) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shibata Zeshin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Album Of Twelve Lacquer Paintings in September 2013 with an auction result of USD 339,750.00 (€ 251,015.88).
