In April this year China Guardian in Hong Kong held the auction Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art, which included the work Story – Water, Air And Body (Painted In 2006) by Shi Chong. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 252,000.00 (€ 257,341.30), 26% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shi Chong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Walking Man II, which sold at auction in December 2020 for HKD 8,850,000.00 (€ 933,483.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte China Guardian in Hong Kong die Auktion Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Story – Water, Air And Body (Painted In 2006) von Shi Chong zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 252.000,00 (€ 257.341,30) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Shi Chong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Walking Man II beobachtet, die im Dezember 2020 für HKD 8.850.000,00 (€ 933.483,24) versteigert wurde.
