The work Geese In The Reeds by Shen Yaochu was worth HKD 300,000.00 (€ 28,468.44) to a buyer in October 2013. This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Literati: Early Ink Masters at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 80,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Shen Yaochu; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Auspicious Chickens sold at auction in October 2013 with the realized price of HKD 375,000.00 (€ 35,585.55).
