The »bidding war« ended at USD 22,500.00 (€ 16,874.16), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Seymour Joseph Guy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Story Of Golden Locks in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 218,500.00 (€ 156,979.67).

Die Arbeit The Letter von Seymour Joseph Guy wurde im März 2012 in der Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture Including the Collection of Dr. Mark and Irene Kauffman bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 22.500,00 (€ 16.874,16) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Seymour Joseph Guy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Story Of Golden Locks im Dezember 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 218.500,00 (€ 156.979,67).
