Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Two Ladies of Bamako), 1959 by Seydou Keïta was auctioned at Christies in London in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,190.00 (€ 7,749.81). Admittedly, works by Seydou Keïta have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sans titre (L'Odalisque) - 1956-1957 in December 2018 with an auction result of EUR 63,700.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Two Ladies of Bamako), 1959 von Seydou Keïta im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 8.190,00 (€ 7.749,81) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Seydou Keïta auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sans titre (L'Odalisque) - 1956-1957 im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 63.700,00.
