Auction result misses estimated price range
In March 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Inscription Rock at Esopus Landing on the Hudson River by Seth Eastman for USD 2,390.00 (€ 2,192.66). This price was achieved in the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Seth Eastman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Striking the Post in May last year with an auction result of USD 52,920.00 (€ 49,315.07).
