Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Scene from Petrushka by Sergei Sudeikin was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 13,860.00 (€ 16,272.94). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sergei Sudeikin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two Panels for the Cabaret Prival Komediantov in Petrograd in June 2021 with an auction result of GBP 680,500.00 (€ 792,959.40).
