Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Battle of Jericho by Sergei Essaian was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Russian Art from a Private Collection auction at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,292.00 (€ 6,312.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Sergei Essaian have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Pope'S Dinner in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 24,000.00 (€ 35,579.14).
