Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Russian Paintings, which included the work Portrait Of The Wife Of Willem Heda by Sergei Essaian. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,113.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sergei Essaian - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Pope'S Dinner, which sold at auction in February 2007 for GBP 24,000.00 (€ 35,579.14).
