In December 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Close Matched, The America's Cup Yachts Puritan and Genesta during the 1885 America's Cup Challenge races by Scott Cameron for USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,592.21). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Scott Cameron have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in January 2008 by the work Skipper's choice; The Yachts Volunteer and Thistle during the 1887 America's Cup at USD 8,750.00 (€ 5,895.83).
