In January 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Maritime Art Including Fine Paintings, Nautical Antiques, Scrimshaw And Ship Models, which included the work Skipper's choice; The Yachts Volunteer and Thistle during the 1887 America's Cup by Scott Cameron. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,750.00 (€ 5,895.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate.
