Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Self Expression Air Compressor by Sayre Gomez was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in December 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 250.00 (€ 222.68). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sayre Gomez achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Valley Boy in September this year with an auction result of USD 88,900.00 (€ 83,994.71).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Self Expression Air Compressor von Sayre Gomez im Dezember 2019 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 250,00 (€ 222,68) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sayre Gomez erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Valley Boy im September diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 88.900,00 (€ 83.994,71).
