Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of Lt. Col. Richard Henry Fitz Herbert (1809-1885), Bust-Length, In A Black Coat With A Red Cravat by Samuel Sidley was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 250.00 (€ 269.59). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Sidley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The challenge in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 23,900.00 (€ 34,308.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of Lt. Col.
