Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A figure in a ruined cloister with Gothic tracery by Samuel Prout was sold in the Old Master, 19th Century & British Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in December 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 750.00 (€ 870.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Prout achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Arch of St Mark'S, Venice, With Figures In Oriental Costume In The Foreground; And The Arch of Constantine, Rome in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,684.44).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Arch of St Mark'S, Venice, With Figures In Oriental Costume In The Foreground; And The Arch of Constantine, Rome im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.200,00 (€ 10.684,44).
