In September 2005 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work A White Star liner, thought to be the Homeric, passing a trading brig off the Bar Lightship in the Bay of Liverpool by Samuel John Milton Brown. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 288.00 (€ 422.66), 44% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Samuel John Milton Brown have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work "Britain's empire watch dog"; and "Britain's old time pride and glory" - H.M.S. Victory (illustrated) in May 2011 with an auction result of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,002.26).

Im September 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit A White Star liner, thought to be the Homeric, passing a trading brig off the Bar Lightship in the Bay of Liverpool von Samuel John Milton Brown zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 288,00 (€ 422,66) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel John Milton Brown auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit "Britain's empire watch dog"; and "Britain's old time pride and glory" - H.M.S. Victory (illustrated) im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.002,26).
