In the Christie's Interiors Including Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours From The Collection of The Late John Appleby auction, the work A busy day on the Thames before St. Paul's Cathedral, London sold for GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,262.99) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Samuel John Milton Brown; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot "Britain's empire watch dog"; and "Britain's old time pride and glory" - H.M.S. Victory (illustrated) sold at auction in May 2011 with the realized price of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,002.26).
