Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Sporting Art, which included the work A Meet on the Highway; A Meet on a Bye Way; Crossing the Road and The Death by Samuel Henry Alken. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 33,600.00 (€ 25,460.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Samuel Henry Alken have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Start for the Derby; and Winning the Derby in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 118,750.00 (€ 105,687.08).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Sporting Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Meet on the Highway; A Meet on a Bye Way; Crossing the Road and The Death von Samuel Henry Alken zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 33.600,00 (€ 25.460,33) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel Henry Alken auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Start for the Derby; and Winning the Derby im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 118.750,00 (€ 105.687,08).
