Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An African Korah chieftain's daughter, wearing an animal skin, crouching by a river by Samuel Daniell was sold in the Exploration and Travel auction at Christies in London in September 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,346.00 (€ 3,370.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Samuel Daniell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work African Scenery And Animals (Abbey Travel 321, Nos. 1-18, 20-32) in April 2013 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 19,175.94).
