In April 2012 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern & Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings, which included the work Di Antara Hitam Dan Putih (Between Black And White) by Samsul Arifin. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 325,000.00 (€ 31,667.17), 30% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samsul Arifin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Terapung di Laut Asia (Floating in the Asian Ocean), which sold at auction in May 2011 for HKD 920,000.00 (€ 82,298.27).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 30 % übertroffen
Im April 2012 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Di Antara Hitam Dan Putih (Between Black And White) von Samsul Arifin zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 325.000,00 (€ 31.667,17) und damit 30% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Samsul Arifin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Terapung di Laut Asia (Floating in the Asian Ocean) beobachtet, die im Mai 2011 für HKD 920.000,00 (€ 82.298,27) versteigert wurde.
