This artwork by Sakti Burman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September last year. In the Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba auction, the work Untitled (The Family) sold for USD 107,100.00 (€ 109,475.62) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Sakti Burman; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Rêve de Maya (Maya's Dream) sold at auction in September this year with the realized price of USD 170,100.00 (€ 160,714.29).
