This artwork by Sakti Burman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2021. In the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works by Benodebehari Mukherjee from the Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation auction, the work Song Of A Bird sold for USD 106,250.00 (€ 90,479.43) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Sakti Burman; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Rêve de Maya (Maya's Dream) sold at auction in September this year with the realized price of USD 170,100.00 (€ 160,714.29).
