Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Man in Rain, West 88th Street, New York City by Ruth Orkin was auctioned at Bonhams in February this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 750.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 484.50 (€ 456.99). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ruth Orkin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work American Girl in Florence, Italy in February 2021 with an auction result of USD 52,812.50 (€ 43,671.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Man in Rain, West 88th Street, New York City von Ruth Orkin im Februar diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 750,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 484,50 (€ 456,99) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ruth Orkin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit American Girl in Florence, Italy im Februar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 52.812,50 (€ 43.671,96).
