Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Jimmy "The Raconteur" (Jimmy the Storyteller) by Ruth Orkin was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in August last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,925.00 (€ 8,867.36). Admittedly, works by Ruth Orkin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work American Girl in Florence, Italy in February 2021 with an auction result of USD 52,812.50 (€ 43,671.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Jimmy "The Raconteur" (Jimmy the Storyteller) von Ruth Orkin im August letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 8.925,00 (€ 8.867,36) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ruth Orkin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit American Girl in Florence, Italy im Februar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 52.812,50 (€ 43.671,96).
