In March this year Bonhams held the auction 19th Century and British Impressionist Art, which included the work Evening on a Venetian canal by Rubens Santoro. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 16,575.00 (€ 18,857.26), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Rubens Santoro have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Venezia, Il Canal Grande Alla Salute in June 2001 with an auction result of EUR 156,800.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion 19th Century and British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Evening on a Venetian canal von Rubens Santoro zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 16.575,00 (€ 18.857,26) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rubens Santoro auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Venezia, Il Canal Grande Alla Salute im Juni 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 156.800,00.
