Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still life with lamp, c.1946 by Roy De Maistre was auctioned at Bonhams in April this year. The price achieved of AUD 79,950.00 (€ 47,919.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 60,000.00 – 90,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Roy De Maistre - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian New Atlantis, which sold at auction in November 2009 for AUD 222,000.00 (€ 135,370.55).
