Artwork auctioned at eight times the upper estimate price
When the work GULP by Ronald Ventura was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 900,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than eight times as high at HKD 7,560,000.00 (€ 897,534.25). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ronald Ventura - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Party Animal, which sold at auction in May 2021 for HKD 19,450,000.00 (€ 2,056,015.25).
Kunstwerk zum Achtfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit GULP von Ronald Ventura im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 900.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 7.560.000,00 (€ 897.534,25) mehr als achtmal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Ronald Ventura mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Party Animal beobachtet, die im Mai 2021 für HKD 19.450.000,00 (€ 2.056.015,25) versteigert wurde.
