In August this year Bonhams in New York held the auction The Fred and Elinor Wrobel CollectionThe Artist's Eye, which included the work The Hogshead, 1960 by Roland Shakespeare Wakelin. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 5,166.00 (€ 3,082.73), 48% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roland Shakespeare Wakelin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Street Scene, Mosman in May 2001 with an auction result of AUD 64,625.00 (€ 38,736.78).

Im August diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion The Fred and Elinor Wrobel CollectionThe Artist's Eye durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Hogshead, 1960 von Roland Shakespeare Wakelin zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 5.166,00 (€ 3.082,73) und damit 48% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roland Shakespeare Wakelin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Street Scene, Mosman im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 64.625,00 (€ 38.736,78).
