Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian st Phillip'S, Church Hill by Roland Shakespeare Wakelin was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 4,200.00 (€ 2,451.74) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roland Shakespeare Wakelin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Street Scene, Mosman in May 2001 with an auction result of AUD 64,625.00 (€ 38,736.78).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Australian st Phillip'S, Church Hill von Roland Shakespeare Wakelin wurde im August 2008 in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 4.200,00 (€ 2.451,74) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roland Shakespeare Wakelin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Street Scene, Mosman im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 64.625,00 (€ 38.736,78).
