Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2015 Christies in London held the auction Australian Art, which included the work Painting Class by Roland Shakespeare Wakelin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,739.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Roland Shakespeare Wakelin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Street Scene, Mosman in May 2001 with an auction result of AUD 64,625.00 (€ 38,736.78).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2015 führte Christies in London die Auktion Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Painting Class von Roland Shakespeare Wakelin zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.739,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Roland Shakespeare Wakelin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Street Scene, Mosman im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 64.625,00 (€ 38.736,78).
