The »bidding war« ended at USD 40,000.00 (€ 30,115.95), 33% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Smithson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Alogon #3 in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 4,297,000.00 (€ 2,761,568.12).

Die Arbeit UNTITLED ARCHANGEL MICHAEL AND THE DRAGON von Robert Smithson wurde im Juli 2013 in der Auktion First Open: Summer Edition bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 30.115,95) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Smithson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Alogon #3 im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.297.000,00 (€ 2.761.568,12).
