Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Poppy, 1982 by Robert Mapplethorpe was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2007. The price achieved of GBP 4,800.00 (€ 7,063.52) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Mapplethorpe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self-Portrait in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 548,750.00 (€ 625,682.41).
