A top price for Robert Mapplethorpe
In October 2017 Christies in London held the auction Masterpieces of Design & Photography, which included the work Self-Portrait by Robert Mapplethorpe. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 500,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 548,750.00 (€ 625,682.41). With this result, Self-Portrait is even the most expensive work of art by Robert Mapplethorpe that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis für Robert Mapplethorpe
Im Oktober 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion Masterpieces of Design & Photography durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self-Portrait von Robert Mapplethorpe zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 500.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 548.750,00 (€ 625.682,41) einen neuen Besitzer. Mit diesem Ergebnis ist Self-Portrait sogar das teuerste Kunstwerk von Robert Mapplethorpe, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
