Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work An extensive river landscape with a barge, figures, livestock and a ruined castle by Robert Griffier was sold in the Old Master and British Pictures auction at Christies in London in July 2007. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,760.00 (€ 8,554.93), 15% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Griffier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Summer: An Extensive Rhenish Landscape With Boats At A Quayside And Peasants By An Inn; And Winter: A Frozen Winter Landscape With Peasants in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 232,000.00 (€ 339,620.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
