Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Hunchback of Notre Dame (Hommage to Victor Hugo) by Robert Colescott. It changed hands for a price of USD 1,410,312.50 (€ 1,249,501.64) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Colescott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work George Washington Carver Crossing The Delaware: Page From An American History Textbook in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 15,315,900.00 (€ 12,560,193.54).

Im November 2021 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Hunchback of Notre Dame (Hommage to Victor Hugo) von Robert Colescott zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 1.410.312,50 (€ 1.249.501,64) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.000.000,00 – 1.500.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Colescott erzielen.
