Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Art | London, which included the work Mantle III by Richard Wathen. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,394.00 (€ 2,855.54), 20% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Wathen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lower Kingdom in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 80,500.00 (€ 65,108.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Art | London durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mantle III von Richard Wathen zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.394,00 (€ 2.855,54) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Wathen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lower Kingdom im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 80.500,00 (€ 65.108,38).
