This artwork by Richard Parkes Bonington achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January last year. In the Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries auction, the work On the terrace sold for USD 27,720.00 (€ 24,723.51) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Parkes Bonington achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Palazzi Manolesso-Ferro, Contarini-Fasan and Venier-Contarini on the Grand Canal, Venice in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 7,387,800.00 (€ 6,395,256.23).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Parkes Bonington erzielen.
