Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Vigilant and Britannia racing off Hunter's Quay in July 1894 by Richard M. Firth was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in October 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,339.71) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard M. Firth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vigilant and Valkyrie II racing off Rhode Island, 1893, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 55,000.00 (€ 37,059.50).

Die Arbeit Vigilant and Britannia racing off Hunter's Quay in July 1894 von Richard M. Firth wurde im Oktober 2008 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert.
