Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Great San Francisco Schooner Race: Brigadoon, Kaiulani, Aldebaran, Yankee and Condessa Del Mar running before the Golden Gate Bridge by Richard M. Firth was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2011. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,755.48) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Richard M. Firth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Vigilant and Valkyrie II racing off Rhode Island, 1893 in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 55,000.00 (€ 37,059.50).

Firth wurde im November 2011 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.755,48) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Richard M. Firth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Vigilant and Valkyrie II racing off Rhode Island, 1893 im Januar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 55.000,00 (€ 37.059,50).
