Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Britannia leading Astra and Candida as they pass the Royal Yacht Squadron, 1928; and Endeavour (II) and Velsheda powering to windward in Osborne Bay (both illustrated) by Richard M. Firth was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2010. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,787.29) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Richard M. Firth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Vigilant and Valkyrie II racing off Rhode Island, 1893 in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 55,000.00 (€ 37,059.50).

Firth kam im Mai 2010 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.787,29) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Richard M. Firth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Vigilant and Valkyrie II racing off Rhode Island, 1893 im Januar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 55.000,00 (€ 37.059,50).
