In April this year Bonhams held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work 'Lulworth and Britannia racing off Cowes' with Lulworth in the lead as they approach the finishing line by Richard M. Firth. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,475.00 (€ 13,077.76), 64% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard M. Firth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vigilant and Valkyrie II racing off Rhode Island, 1893, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 55,000.00 (€ 37,059.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Lulworth and Britannia racing off Cowes' with Lulworth in the lead as they approach the finishing line von Richard M. Firth zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.475,00 (€ 13.077,76) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Richard M. Firth mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Vigilant and Valkyrie II racing off Rhode Island, 1893 beobachtet, die im Januar 2008 für USD 55.000,00 (€ 37.059,50) versteigert wurde.
