Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Maritime, which included the work The America's Cup, 1958: Columbia to windward of Sceptre by Richard M. Firth. The price achieved of USD 24,000.00 (€ 17,504.19) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard M. Firth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vigilant and Valkyrie II racing off Rhode Island, 1893, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 55,000.00 (€ 37,059.50).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 24.000,00 (€ 17.504,19) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Richard M.
