This artwork by Richard Hambleton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2021. In the Public Intervention: Art of the Street auction, the work Standing Shadowman sold for USD 214,200.00 (€ 185,422.44) - well above the upper estimate of USD 90,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Hambleton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work As The World Burns - 1983, which sold at auction in June 2018 for EUR 474,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Richard Hambleton erzielte im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Public Intervention: Art of the Street wurde die Arbeit Standing Shadowman für USD 214.200,00 (€ 185.422,44) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 90.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Richard Hambleton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit As The World Burns - 1983 beobachtet, die im Juni 2018 für EUR 474.000,00 versteigert wurde.
