Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Black Mantilla by Richard Edward Miller was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 87,500.00 (€ 79,314.72). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Edward Miller achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tea-Time in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 1,087,500.00 (€ 1,028,077.14).
