This artwork by Richard Avedon achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in May this year. In the Photographs auction, the work Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller 5/8/57 sold for GBP 27,940.00 (€ 32,508.38) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Avedon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Beatles Portfolio: John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney, London in November last year with an auction result of GBP 809,000.00 (€ 937,446.28).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Richard Avedon erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Photographs wurde die Arbeit Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller 5/8/57 für GBP 27.940,00 (€ 32.508,38) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Avedon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Beatles Portfolio: John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney, London im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 809.000,00 (€ 937.446,28).
